Interactive Layering
This interactive website implements video layering inspired by different forms of media. In this project I explored the Idea of visual translation to explore an emotional theme and its expression in different references, and then reflecting it’s motifs through website interactions.

InquiryThe project began by analyzing three different forms of media and finding a connection through shared thematic elements. Each explored the idea of all-consuming love as a force that distorts reality and unravels one’s sense of self. This cross-medium analysis laid the groundwork for the project’s conceptual direction.
500 Days of Summer. Fox Searchlight Pictures, 2009.
Radiohead. “All I Need.” In Rainbows, XL Recordings, 2007.
García Márquez, Gabriel. El amor en los tiempos del cólera. Editorial Oveja Negra, 1985.
Research and Process I developed a translation process based on the shared elements across each medium such as repetition, rhythm, and emotional pacing, to build a cohesive visual language. These commonalities served as the foundation for interpreting intangible themes visually.
OutcomeThe final outcome was an interactive experience that layered the translated visuals into a cohesive digital space. As users engage with the website, they navigate themes reflected in the original media, such as confusion, discovery, and emotional overwhelm, creating an immersive and interpretive journey.
